In 2020, Nokia and PLDT joined forces in a groundbreaking partnership to explore the expanding IoT market, with Nokia providing PLDT the Worldwide IoT Network Grid (WING). The collaboration aimed to support Smart, PLDT's wireless unit, in launching a pioneering Internet of Things platform. This all-in-one solution empowers enterprises to effortlessly deploy services and solutions, managing hundreds of thousands of connected devices for future growth.
And that partnership between the Finnish technology firm and the Philippines’ largest integrated telecommunications group continues today, searching for ways to help the country accelerate its digital transformation, particularly for enterprises.
"Nokia realized very early that we have to bring in an ecosystem of devices, applications, and networks that will come together to deliver the digital mission,” said Raghav Sahgal, President of Nokia Cloud and Network Services.
“Working in that ecosystem and making sure that we partner with the right group in creating an economy that is API-led are going to be extremely important drivers to bring these ecosystems together,” Sahgal added.

“AI has been around for a long time. Technology has enabled us to take AI to the next generation because of the computing capability we are building,” Sahgal told a panel discussion. “One of the great things about AI is if the adoption level is very high, it will change our lives in many ways,” he added.
Gendrano said most enterprise leaders, PLDT and Smart included, have embraced AI, “And are making no-regret steps on improving CX and operational efficiency through AI.”
He added that cloud, data center, and cybersecurity technologies continue to improve and evolve, and can greatly help facilitate an API ecosystem that would deliver value and new capability for enterprise.
