Manila, Philippines [ 30 July 2020 ]—PLDT Enterprise extends e-Learning solutions to Don Bosco Technology College – Cebu (DBTC) to support its online learning initiatives for the upcoming academic year.

DBTC-Cebu is one of the many schools facing extraordinary challenges at this time. They have recognized their need to be prepared with the necessary latest tools to support their online learning initiatives, which is the reason why they tapped PLDT Enterprise.

Fr. Fidel Orendain, SDB, President of Don Bosco Technology Center - Cebu states, "Living through a pandemic feels like there is so much uncertainty, not just for our students and teachers, but for the entire community. But our school motto is “Ardua non timeo” (“I fear no hardships”) - a Bosconian never quits despite life’s difficulties. What better time to put this into action than now?"

DBTC-Cebu signed up for PLDT Enterprise’s Microsoft Education Suite, a e-Learning solution with educational tools that promote remote learning while giving teachers and students an uncomplicated way to stay connected at home or on campus. Not only will the suite be used by students in higher learning, but by their K-12 learners as well.

"This is why we decided to partner with PLDT Enterprise. It will allow us to do our ordinary duties extraordinarily well. After all, amidst what's happening, we continue to serve our young Bosconians," Fr. Fidel added.

DBTC-Cebu availed Microsoft Education A3 licenses to be used by their teachers and students. The Learning Management System (LMS) uses the Microsoft 365 platform that will allow DBTC-Cebu's teachers to deliver instructional materials via SharePoint, Teams and mobile devices, manage classes in online classrooms and meet virtually with their students using Microsoft Teams, while they all have full access to the Office 365 collaboration and productivity Apps.

DBTC-Cebu is also making sure that they have the appropriate student technology infrastructure in place. Distance education will not work if the technology to support it is lacking and unstable. As a result, DBTC-Cebu is also upgrading their campus connectivity, which will be the foundation for the centralized content delivery program for their teachers. At this time, staff training is in full swing. This upgrade will likewise support the AV recording and editing booths they are making for every grade level so that teachers are able to produce original teaching materials ready for uploading.

“PLDT Enterprise understands the urgent need to change the delivery of learning during this pandemic. We assure our partners in the academic sector that we are ready in helping them address their needs in providing quality digital education with the latest distance learning tools," said AVP & Head of Corporate Relationship Management for Visayas Jimmy Chua.

In the advent of online education, PLDT Enterprise aims to redefine the future of learning through its continuous engagements with universities, colleges, schools, and learning institutions across the country so no learner is left behind.
